Social Communications

Organization of social events under targeted communications programmes makes it possible for PJSC IDGC of the North-West to form a positive image of a socially responsible business, to ensure the implementation of a unified internal and external information policy, to build communication with stakeholders on the basis of common values, and to enhance the prestige of the power engineer occupation.

Since 2007, the social mission of the Company is a comprehensive communications programme aimed at preventing electric injuries of third parties, whose main objective is to reduce the risk of electric injuries at power facilities, and build the philosophy of safe behavior through education. The programme was broadly supported in the regions where the Company operates: 27 agreements on assistance in the implementation of the programme at the level of regional offices of EMERCOM of Russia, Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and heads of municipalities have been in effect in the Company.

As part of the comprehensive programme, in 2015, the Company employees provided more than 500 electrical safety classes for children and teenagers in the Northwestern Federal District. The classes were attended by pupils from schools and preschool facilities, students from technical colleges and universities, cadets, children from orphanages and special boarding schools, and risk group teenagers. The number of subjects of the large-scale educational campaign in the reporting period grew by 20% and amounted to more than 15.6 thousand people.

By tradition, the electric injury prevention classes were conducted interactively with the use of presentation materials and included power facility tours. In 2015, PJSC IDGC of the North-West developed a series of unique class scenarios with quest game elements to simulate life situations related to electrical safety. In the regions where the Company operates, creative competitions on safe handling of electric equipment were organised.

During the year, the Company specialists took part in the All-Russian theme-based class 'Light in our lives' held on the occasion of the International Year of Light and Light Technology. Company's inventions supplemented the library of educational materials on energy saving of the RF Ministry of Energy. In Pskov, Electrical Safety Week was provided with the support of PJSC IDGC of the North-West. 5th graders from School 13 who were members of the Tilly-Tukki club took part in the classes. The club organises work on prevention of electric injury prevention classes for pupils using the book of PJSC IDGC of the North-West 'The Tale of the brave Tilly-Tukki, the terrible villain Gorgonar and magical power of the mysterious river Electra'. Preventive work under the project of PJSC IDGC of the North-West and Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Pskov Region 'Me and fire safety' was continued. In 2015, implementation of the joint project made it possible to significantly expand the reach and age of the audience.

Each year, new forms of work with children are added to the tools of the third party electric injury prevention programme. In 2015, employees of PJSC IDGC of the North-West prepared the handbook #ElectricSafeSelfie whee interest in modern trends was used as an opportunity to bring all principles of safe electric behavior to the teenagers. This work was highly appreciated by educators in the regions where the Company operates.

Extensive preventive work with adults was continued. Themed workshops, lectures and training courses in driving schools and forestries and at village meetings are held, colourful informational posters are distributed among citizens at risk: drivers of heavy vehicles, summer visitors and fishermen. In summer, active assistance in the dissemination of agitation materials for energy professionals is provided by students' teams. Activities raising awareness of dangers of energy stealing are an important component. Company employees, together with representatives of the Department of Internal Affairs have carried out preventive action as part of periodic sweeps of non-ferrous metal drop-off stations.

Information materials on prevention of electric injuries are spread through regional electronic and printed media, radio and television, in personal customer service offices of PJSC IDGC of the North-West and offices of Russian Post. In addition, all the methods and developments of the Company are available on the themed electronic resources: the portals 'Electrical Safety for Adults' and 'Make friends with Electricity.'

In accordance with the corporate tradition, employees of the Company and their families participate in the activities, marches and motor rallies on the occasion of memorable dates in the Great Patriotic War. In 2015, for the anniversary of the Great Victory in the regions where the Company operates, a set of communication activities was implemented. The experience of employees of PJSC IDGC of the North-West in a history-related search movement was collected in the pages of the themed portal '70 years of Great Victory': a series of interviews and memoirs was published, as well as contact information is provided for those wishing to join the movement. To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Victory, veterans were given special gifts and food gift baskets. A gift edition of war songs performed by the Company employees was issued and distributed. At the initiative of the Company in Staraya Russa (Novgorod Region), a unique exhibition was organised based on 50 years of expeditions taken by the search movement Valley. The exhibition was visited by the President of Russia V.V. Putin during the All-Russian Gathering of Search Groups. The exhibition was also displayed at the central office of PJSC Russian Grids in Moscow. In Syktyvkar (Komi Republic), photos of war veterans being family members of employees were presented at the Monument to the Electrician within the exhibition 'Energy of the Victory in the hearts of generations.' In the Arkhangelsk Region, the Komi Republic and the Republic of Karelia, books, magazines and photo albums with memories of energy workers — veterans of the Great Patriotic War, stories of relatives of contemporaries — the Company's employees and their children have been published. Colourful publications were distributed to employees of the Company and regional and school libraries. For the anniversary of the Victory, a special issue of the corporate newspaper was released with preservation of historical memory as central theme.

Energy workers are widely involved in volunteer programmes and social solidarity projects in the area of the Company's operations. Company's specialists — participants of the charity movement provide informative lessons, master classes and school sports days in orphanages and boarding schools on a regular basis. In the Komi Republic, the Arkhangelsk Region and the Murmansk Region, energy workers organise collection of gifts and stationery for orphans. In 2015, the administration and students of the Kildinskaya boarding school (in Murmansk Region) sent the Company a letter of thanks for the assistance it provided to the sponsored educational institution. In the reporting year, Company's specialists helped to get children from large families ready for school. Energy workers in the Republic of Komi in cooperation with the young families' club Rodolad supported the initiative 'Day of Good Deeds' and personally handed over school rucksacks to families in need of assistance. A similar event took place in the Novgorod Region on the initiative of the Children's Rights Commissioner in the Region: with funds collected by workers of the Novgorod branch, first-graders were provided with school supplies, sports clothing and footwear.

PJSC IDGC of the North-West is a permanent participant of regional donor initiatives. In 2015, the contribution of the grid company in the development of the voluntary blood donation government programme was awarded a special diploma of the Republican Blood Transfusion Station (Republic of Karelia).

In the reporting year, the environmental initiative of PJSC IDGC of the North-West was also continued: the Company's employees have been actively involved in cleaning, landscaping and planting of urban areas in all the regions of operations.

The new communication project 'Bright People' has been one of the key tools to enhance the prestige of the power engineer occupation. Pages of the eponymous web portal contain essays, sketches, interviews and photos which altogether depict a portrait of a man of creative labour, the ordinary representative of the electric power industry. 'Bright People' is the basis for regional media editorial content about power engineer occupation for those who every day ensure reliable operation of power systems in big cities and small villages.
